A few weeks before departure, Ekta needed to make several last-minute changes to her safari.

Dates shifted.

Details changed.

The kind of adjustments that often leave travelers wondering whether the experience they imagined will still be possible.

Instead, everything quietly came together.

When she arrived in Tanzania, the itinerary no longer felt like a revised plan.

It simply felt right.

The Gift of the Green Season

Many travelers hesitate to visit the Serengeti during the green season.

They imagine rain.

Fewer animals.

Or a safari that somehow feels less exciting than the peak months.

Ekta discovered something entirely different.

The landscapes were vibrant.

The air felt fresh after passing showers.

Wildlife appeared around almost every bend.

Most surprising of all was the silence.

Driving through the Western Serengeti, there were long stretches where it felt as though they had one of Africa's greatest wildernesses almost entirely to themselves.

There were no lines of safari vehicles.

No waiting for another car to move.

Only endless plains, open skies, and the feeling of discovering the Serengeti at its own gentle pace.

During the quieter season, Shrike founder Mark accompanied the safari as her guide, turning the journey into relaxed conversations as well as unforgettable wildlife encounters. Nothing about it felt hurried. It simply felt personal.

Nature's Perfect Farewell

Every safari has moments you'll always remember.

Few save the most extraordinary for the very end.

On the final game drive, as they began the journey back, the vehicle slowed to a stop.

Ahead of them stood a cheetah beside a freshly caught gazelle.

The plains fell completely still.

Then movement appeared in the grass.

One by one, her cubs emerged and hurried towards their mother.

For several unforgettable minutes, they watched one of the Serengeti's oldest stories unfold exactly as nature intended.

No one spoke very much.

There was nothing to add.

When it was over, the engine quietly started again.

It was time to leave.

Neither of them could have imagined a more fitting farewell.

A Journey to Remember

Looking back, it would be easy to say the highlight was the cheetah.

Or the quiet beauty of the green season.

Or having so much of the Western Serengeti to themselves.

But perhaps what made the journey unforgettable was something simpler.

The plans had changed.

The season wasn't what many travelers would have chosen.

Yet somehow, everything came together exactly as it should.
